Until now, engineering innovations have overwhelmingly utilised what might be referred to as a “build-first-test-later-and-fix approach”, whereby you build machine prototype first, then testing takes place now, it fails to work properly later, and failing often and have to rebuild later.
However, innovations are quickly replacing this traditional approaches through digital design, modeling, and simulation, whereby ideas are easily and inexpensively tested, refined, and validated within a virtual world.
This evolution is what has led to the development of digital twins, whereby engineers can use technology to model a product or a machine that will behave in a similar manner as it would in the real world. This has been particularly useful since engineers are at a lower risk of failing because they will be able to explore motion, materials, forces (especially gravity), as well as the failures in a product before they are made in reality. In recent times, however, it has been seen how AI has been pushing the boundaries and how engineers can use it to iterate designs, optimise them as well as make decisions faster in comparison to past times. I will write more about this in one of my coming articles.
Being a Design & Simulation professional, my primary role lies in converting theoretical and conceptual ideas into functional and interactive digital realities that not just move but mimic the way actual physical machinery moves and operates. This means when researchers or innovators have an idea or a research concept, they reach out to me for technical execution. The attached video presentation reflects this idea of simulating a “known agricultural product” separation machine.
I provide consultancy services involving design and development in the fields of mechanical and process simulation, digital twin creation, and visualisation, helping researchers and interested individuals test and communicate their ideas with certainty and appropriate visualisation.
Software used: Solidworks, Blender, Cinema4D, InShot Adobe Premier Pro.
